Welcome all, to ālove and best of musicā, where we try to share the best of all genres to fit all tastes. Permit me to share a little about my history, and how `love and best of musicā came to be and its aim. Firstly, allow me introduce myselfā¦. I am `DJ Chonkaāā¦ a gentleman of slightly older years (Very late 40s early 50s), who has amassed a fondness for quality sounds along with a few grey hairs. Having the fortuitous luck to have been born in the early 70s, I was blessed to have been surrounded by great music, introduced in my early years, by my mother (shout out to mum, love your posts on the Love and best of musicā Facebook Group), influenced by such an eclectic array of sounds. Ranging from Reggieā (Reggae), soul, Motown, to funk, gospel,!synth-pop, and the likes of Bryan Ferry and the brilliance of Kraftwerk from the 70s early 80sā¦ alas, there are far too many to mention. Those influences paid me in good stead for my formative years, as I learned more about my own musical tastes i.e., mid-80s electro (shout out to the b-boys and the b-girls out there living the dream), then comes the mid to late 80s early 90s, and the start of the second summer of love for the UK, with electronic dance music and the indie scene kicking in. I was a young man who fully embraced the music of the times such as Frankie knuckles, Marshal Jefferson and a guy called Gerald. It was the early 90s rave scene, breaks (Breakbeat), big beat, rock, among others, where i had the opportunity to try my hand at mixing on the `1s and 2sā (decks), mainly breaks with the odd bit of big beat, trip hop and techno. Whilst being privileged to see some great bands perform at festivals during the same years. Which leads us to about 5-6 years ago, where the first seeds of the love and best of musicā were planted. Social media had given me an opportunity to share my love for music with friends and friends to be (as they say āa stranger is just a friend you havenāt met yetā). So not only could I post my favourite tunes and mixes with everyone who loves music, but they too would have a platform to share their favourite music or influences, even their own mixes, or maybe even a composition or two of their own. 2022 is an all-new beginning for the love and best of musicāā¦. We now have a YouTube, Mixcloud and Twitch channel, where you can find the best in all genres of music to fit all tastes, we will be live streaming on each of those platforms. Behind the Open Source project is Angelos Mavros from Athens, Greece. Angelos began making music under the alias OutSid3r in 1999 and has been constantly improving his outputs since then. In 2004, he started releasing music under the name "Open Source", as he switched from trackers to a professional DAW. All of his productions include prominent melodies and deep ambience that reflect the producer's melancholic psyche. In 2005, Angelos founded Ghost Label records, a label dedicated to electronic music that has released the majority of his tracks. Open Source embraced the overwhelming popularity of electronic music and infused the EDM scene with his unique, soulful sound. I've been mixing music since about 1998... These days, it's just a hobby. Once a month or so, I download a bunch of tracks and make a fresh mix out of them. Generally, I like to play 3 or 4 different types of house music (classic, funky, bass, disco, electro, melodic, tech, progressive and hard!) and also some techno and trance. I hope you dig it! Favorite DJs: Bad Boy Bill and Richard "Humpty" Vission are the two that inspired me to want to get into DJing. They will always be the best to me. Bang Bang!!
